My Friends
|
|
This page is dedicated to all those friends of mine whom I may have failed to mention here!
Childhood triumvirate
I had several close friends as a child - especially with two guys of our school called Samudra Gupta and Shantanu Biswas. We self-designated ourselves as 'The three musketeers' or 'the triumvirate'! I have lost touch with both of them now. Shantanu studied with me upto the twelfth standard, after which he went on to pursue a medical career and I in engineering. Samudra was studying journalism when I last heard of him - that was about seven years ago! Shantanu and Samudra - please write to me if you chance upon this site!
At College
The four enjoyable years I spent at the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, Jadavpur University brought me in contact with many interesting people, and formed friendships which have lasted, and many which have become frayed (elctrostatic bond...hydrogen bond?).
IISc
Joining IISc made it possible to come in contact with another India, one I hadn't known before (except as tourists): different language and customs, scripts and food, but still very Indian. I came to meet geniuses and eccentrics and ETs at IISc, many good friends - Sumeet Sardarji, Ravi Swamiji, Vijay Viva, Ravi Shankar, Soujanna Sarkar, Smita, Alok PUF Mittal, Ull, Jaya Machcha, Jeppy, Kishore BGM, CSM, MN Mahesh and on and on... We still maintain contact with one another, and parties are quite often! Here is Vijay's homepage..

Find me! The Holi Festival at my college. Holi was played inside the campus on the day after the holiday (23 March 1997)! Though Holi is observed with much less enthusiasm in south India, I did not miss Holi even at the IISc campus (1998). |
